Bio

One of the most subtle Polish voices heard simultaneously from the windows of Warsaw's Grochow district, downtown Poznan and... Berlin. Although Rosalie. is already settled in the capital, it was in the previous places that she dreamed of becoming a singer. As a little girl glued to a tape recorder, she listened to Grace Jones, Prince, and Nina Simone, dressing up in front of the mirror. As she grew up, she entered the gates of Swiety Marcin Street with increasing boldness and participated in rap battles, the sounds of which climbed into the windows of nearby tenements. In the meantime, did she record a German language textbook with her mother, study Turkology and work with her sister in the Ikea office? Yes, and she always felt one thing: enough already, it's time to go back to rehearsals, to the band - "that's where I want to be." This was also the title of her first EP "Enuff". She thought: there was no R'n'B in Poland yet. Let's change it.

One of the most fascinating things about Rosalie.'s work is that she starts creating a song by composing a melody. Lyrics come up in English at first and next she translates it to Polish. Surprisingly - the prior meaning of the song is often not repeated. What Rosalie. aims to achieve is matching the sound of Polish to English words. She emphasizes one of the biggest challenges behind creating soul and R'n'B music in Poland: the rustling and sharp sound of the words to sit comfortably in a soft and groove-filled melody. Here, nothing is allowed to get caught!

She is relentless in setting new bars for herself and is not afraid to jump over them. Nor is she even afraid to drop them and start again. This is reflected in her third career album "Motherlode". The pop-tinged "Raj," the drum'n'base "Stracona głowa" and "Freeze" were created in collaboration with producer Chloe Martini. Rosalie. is sure that the creation of material for the new album would not have been the same if she did not have an artist and friend in one person at her side. This tames the fear and encourages it. According to Rosalie., the music industry still lacks space for women. This is by no means a lack of jobs, but a conventional space where every woman feels safe to say "I know this, I can do this, I want this," without feeling watched nor judged.
